High Definition & Content Protection: The Impact on Windows Vista

Overview When Microsoft releases Windows Vista, there will be a new sheriff in town, at least when it comes to enforcing content protections for premium high-definition video. Several components that will appear inside Vista will be aimed at protecting copyrights for premium digital content, specifically HD video content. Vista's DRM features will let the OS manage and enforce limitations placed on the content by the creators of that content. Also, Vista will have a Protected Environment within the OS that will control the playback of premium content. If the features in Vista work as planned, they will prevent unauthorized software and hardware from accessing the premium content.
