System Management

Overview As you plan for transition from Tru64 UNIX on AlphaServer systems to HPUX 11i v2 on Intel Itanium 2-based HP Integrity servers, you should have an understanding of how these two UNIX offerings from HP are similar and different from a system management perspective. This understanding will help to administer the new systems and integrate them into the environment more efficiently. There are many similarities between the two operating systems that stem from their foundation in UNIX tradition and the POSIX standard. This paper simply highlights some of the system administration differences between Tru64 UNIX and HP-UX 11i, and helps to plan the best ways to train your IT staff to be proficient in HP-UX 11i.
