Integrated Biological Information System for a Coffee Farm

Overview This paper describes an integrated biological information system for a coffee farm. This system has a GUI based on a map built on SVG, (Scalable Vector Graphics) an XML-based web graphics format. This map is made from coordinate data produced by a highly accurate Differential GPS (Global Positioning System). The authors have made a precise map of the UCC coffee farm at Kona in Hawaii and integrated biological information into it. The information of each layer can be displayed by simply clicking any element of the map on a web browser. The paper also describes a daily log recording system generated using a PDA containing the same map.
