RFID: Waiting for Its Wal-Mart Moment

Overview The use of passive Radio-Frequency IDentification (RFID) tags in closed-loop supply chain, retail, and other diverse applications is predicted to grow steadily as the price of tags and readers falls toward the levels needed for mass adoption. However, total supply chain visibility and real-time product information - the ultimate goals of RFID tagging projects in the retail world - are hampered by the lack of globally accepted standards.
