Delivering High-Speed Wireless Internet Access to the City of Buffalo, Minnesota

Overview The City of Buffalo is located approximately 40 miles from Minneapolis. In 2001, the City did not have access to either DSL or cable modem service - most of the Internet access in the community was through dial up via Qwest, the local telecommunications provider. Qwest did not have immediate plans to upgrade its existing network to support broadband access. The city wanted to bring high-speed Internet access to all businesses and residences in town with 90% of premise installs completed by the user. The City of Buffalo conducted a thorough review of available broadband Internet technologies and determined that WaveRider's Last Mile Solution was the only commercially available product that would meet its requirements.
