JNT Association Case Study: Buckinghamshire Adult Learning

Overview Bucks Adult Learning entered the world of e-learning as a partner in a project that utilised existing commercial content to help SMEs update themselves. This experience helped it become a major delivery outlet for learn direct and the service now has 11 centres linked to its managed learning environment (MLE) through its wide area network (WAN). Buckinghamshire County Council has pioneered an adult learning system, connected to JANET, based around the needs of the end-learner. The system uses laptops, smart cards, and a fully integrated managed learning environment to take learning to the learners. A contract has been signed to wireless-enable every teaching room by September 2004. The necessary connectivity will be provided by JANET.
