Overview The world of information technology is changing rapidly with the use of ambient intelligence application systems playing an increasingly important role. One such application is the use of passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags. The development and potential increased use of RFID-technology has raised questions from a privacy perspective. In this paper, the Article 29 Working Party expresses its concern that some applications of RFID-technology will violate human dignity as well as data protection rights.
