Some of the World's Brightest Physicists Entrust the Power of StorageTek Solutions to Help Protect and Manage Their Irreplaceable Data

Overview Fermilab is the largest U.S. laboratory for research in high-energy physics and worldwide is second only to CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics. In order to best maximize its resources supporting particle accelerator research and experiments, Fermilab makes extensive use of leading edge resources, including tape storage technology. Because of massive data volumes, only a single, production copy of data is maintained. To meet its expansive data storage needs, Fermilab deployed five PowderHorn 9310 automated cartridge systems from StorageTek with over 20,000 slots.
