Printronix Hits Grand Slam With Russell and the Danby Group RFID Initiative

Overview Founded in 1902, Russell Corp. started in Alabama with a few knitting and sewing machines. As a leader in sportswear, Russell is one of the top 100 suppliers to Wal-Mart. In June 2003, Wal-Mart announced its decision to begin an Electronic Product Code (EPC) initiative with the goal of improving merchandise availability for its customers. Although the company knew that it must comply with Wal-Mart's request, it presented a logistical challenge. The test for Russell was how to integrate RFID capabilities into an expansive system without interrupting normal operation or creating a separate, redundant system for RFID-specific shipments. The company selected The Danby Group to lead the pilot and provide a robust, integrated RFID solution.
