Twin Lakes Public Library System: When One in Three Wasn't Good Enough

Overview The Twin Lakes Public Library System, which consists of two libraries, has been serving the residents of central Georgia for more than seven decades. In the late-1990s, however, the library administrators discovered a rather shocking problem they were facing: their "loss rate" of books leaving their facilities without being checked out was among the highest in the state. An internal test confirmed the challenge they were facing was formidable - their electronic security system was catching just one out of three books walking out the doors of the libraries. The director of the library, after conducting exhaustive research into the performance records of few vendors, selected Checkpoint Systems' Intelligent Library System (ILS).
