Overview SIM-based WLAN authentication provides secure and fast access to the internet and is an incredibly handy solution for all users that already have an existing GSM/GPRS contract. Together with a Combo Card for GSM / GPRS (or UMTS) and WLAN, GSM network operators can offer their customers the perfect solution for achieving mobile access to the internet. A solution that is flexible, that is independent of the access technology used and that can be implemented according to a uniform pricing model. To make this service a reality, GSM network operators have to add an authentication server to their infrastructures and link these to the WLAN hotspots or, much more simply, cooperate with a roaming broker such as WeRoam.
