Agfa Chooses StorageTek to Support One of the World's Largest PACS

Overview Finland is divided into 21 hospital districts, the largest of which is The Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS), which serves 1.5 million people. In 1990, the HUS chose Agfa to implement one of the largest Picture Archiving and Communication Systems PACS) in the world. When Agfa implemented its PACS solution, it needed a partner that could provide a reliable and scalable offering to store and manage the amount of information created by radiological examinations. Agfa turned to its strategic partner, StorageTek. After evaluating a number of different disk solutions, Agfa chose the StorageTek D178 disk subsystem to initially handle 12 terabytes of the digital radiology information created by PACS.
