Lanier Uses In-House Experts to Reduce TCO in the Finance Department

Overview Lanier initiated a plan in 2002 to perform extensive DOCutivity analysis in all the departments. Current state workflow maps clearly showed the majority of workflow in the department - nearly all 200,000 impressions per month - was going to black-and-white copiers and printers. The monthly total cost of ownership for these systems was excessive. The workflow maps also itemized the inefficiencies of decentralized printing. The Lanier team recommended a centralized approach, using high-volume MFPs to handle the majority of copy/print output in six well-defined workgroups.
