Communities, Collaboration and Cooperation in Personalized Web Search

Overview Collaborative Web Search is an approach to Web search that takes advantage of ideas from case-based reasoning in order to improve upon the results of a standard search engine. It retrieves and reuses the prior search experiences of a community of like-minded searchers. Collaborative Web search contemplates a society of differently focused communities, each with their own case-base of search experiences. This paper borrows ideas from collaborative and distributed case-based reasoning to show how search experiences of related communities can also usefully assist search.
