Center for Technology Excellence: 2005 Computerworld Honors Case Study

Overview GSK is a leading, $35-billion-a-year pharmaceutical firm headquartered in the United Kingdom with global operations spanning 37 nations and based from the U.S. GSK's U.S. IT group launched a project to boost the company's collaboration, knowledge-sharing and productivity here in the U.S. But they had to achieve these aims within the firm's rigorous budget constraints. At the same time, the team also sought to improve mobile workforce connectivity. To pursue its goals, GSK installed in the Center a single foundational local area network for data, voice, video and collaborative applications with connections to the company's global wide area network.
