Major University Succeeds With a PeopleSoft Financials Integration and Implementation

Overview A large university with over 40,000 students needed a PeopleSoft Financials integration and implementation for the University, Medical Center, and the Research Foundation. The project cost nearly $30M, and spanned 2.5 years with 2,000 direct end users and was completed in 2004. This is the largest PeopleSoft integration endeavor in the Higher Education sector to date. For the past eight years, the IT department had relied entirely on third party consultants for project management. Now they choose to do it themselves, and to acquire project management skills for a lifetime. A Program Management Office (PMO) was created to set goals, select a tool (Microsoft Project 2000/Project Central) and to define basic methodology.
