Ronco Communications Overhauls Voice and Data Networks for SUNY Cortland

Overview State University of New York (SUNY) Cortland, located near Syracuse with 7800 students and more than 1000 faculty and staff, found itself in a situation familiar to many educational institutions. It had reached its capacity with an outdated private branch exchange (PBX) phone system. With its existing system, SUNY Cortland could no longer add phones or update features since the manufacturer had discontinued the operating system. Ronco Communications recommended that SUNY Cortland replace its existing PBX with a complete Cisco IP Communications solution, including replacement of the 3COM data infrastructure with a redesigned Cisco Catalyst switching infrastructure.
