Simulation and User Trial Results of a Converged DVB-T and GPRS Sports Service

Overview The EU funded project, Convergence of IP-based Services for Mobile Users and Networks in DVB-T and UMTS Systems (CISMUNDUS), is creating an example sports service that incorporates rich multimedia content using low-cost broadcast channels, such as DVB-T, while using a mobile telecom network (GPRS/UMTS) for more specialized information and personal transactions. Whilst the terminal, service provisioning servers, broadband and broadcast access networks and application provisioning tools are being constructed the user interface has been designed and fast prototyped. The early user trials have been conducted using a simulation of the sports scenario. This paper presents the results of these early user trials.
