Integrating UltraCMOS Designs in GSM Front Ends

Overview There are many different switching technologies available, each with their own set of advantages and disadvantages. As GSM phones represent over 60% of worldwide handset sales and they are entirely based on switched front-ends, the remainder of this article will focus on the GSM system requirements and discuss how different switching technologies address them. Also worth mentioning is integration of other standards, such as UMTS, into GSM handsets for next generation "World Phone" applications that will likely be handled through additional switched paths.
