Consolidating on Sun Fire Servers for Higher Availability and Lower TCO

Overview In Madrid, the various agencies that comprise the local government look to Informatica Comunidad de Madrid (ICM) to deliver the IT services that allow them to fulfill their civic duties, from offering public health programs to employment and immigration assistance. When ICM learned that its legacy Data General platform would no longer be supported after Data General was acquired, the organization capitalized on an opportunity to consolidate database servers and improve database performance. Working with Sun Services, ICM consolidated its Oracle databases on two Sun Fire 6800 servers and one Sun Fire 3800 server at its central data center.
