OSS Through Java Initiative: A New Breed of OSS Solutions
Overview Communications service providers (CSPs) are hard-pressed by the rising costs of custom telco-only software developments yet hesitant about turning to other solutions. The widespread belief in a simple either/or choice - difficult-to-maintain home-grown solutions versus off-the-shelf integration components - has led to decision fatigue within the industry. The OSS through Java Initiative - a group of leading hardware, software and systems integrator vendors - is the only entity with the proven ability to develop, test and publish a suite of inter-OSS application program interfaces (APIs). These APIs are developed specifically for the telecom industry and based on several industry standards, particularly the J2EE integrated application framework, that have become the de facto standard among a wide variety of industries.
