Overview Gem-Sen is one of Canada's premier consumer electronics specialty distributors. Gem-Sen had some experience with EDI but realized that to broaden its relationships with its larger trading partners such as Ford Canada, HMV, Maxell, TDK, and Sony, it needed to develop an EDI strategy that was scalable and able to accommodate more than one trading partner and associated VAN while still working with its existing accounting application, BusinessVision. Without EDI, Gem-Sen found that it took too much time and energy to manually process invoices, purchase orders, and prepare packing slips for trading partner requests. The key to successful business efficiencies was the integration of sales and purchase documentation with the company's BusinessVision accounting application.
