Overview Remote site recovery and clustering are two techniques that are commonly used to mitigate disaster risks, but each has drawbacks that limit their effectiveness and appeal. However, distance clustering can combine the advantages of these two techniques while minimizing their drawbacks. Microsoft embraced distance clustering with its release of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 by introducing an important technique for management of geographically dispersed clusters: the majority node set.
