Light in the Data Chaos

Overview The Windows XP successor, Longhorn, is advertised to contain a new file system, WinFS, that indexes all files on the hard drive using Meta-Tags and, therefore, saves the user time when searching. Other than Windows XP, all files are filed under specific topics within a few seconds - regardless of format and physical storage location of the files. Neither the file name nor the generation date is required for the retrieval. Based on the context-sensitive search of WinFS, the user may simply enter a search command, such as "contract finalization with company XYZ, Neunkirchen/Saar," which retrieves the intended document.
