Regional Hospital Reduces IT Desktop Administration Time by 66 Percent

Overview In auditing its IT systems in 2001, Rowan Regional Medical Center (RRMC) found that its heterogeneous mixture of server and desktop operating systems created a heavy administrative and support burden, offered few security or collaboration capabilities, and limited the hospital's ability to add new technologies. So RRMC teamed up with Microsoft Certified Partner TierServe to deploy a Microsoft Windows Server-based infrastructure and a consistent desktop environment running Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 Professional. The solution has supported the hospital's compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, helped reduce desktop administration time by 66 percent, expedited help-desk response, and helped improve the quality of care.
