Drive Process Improvement Using 12 Main Categories
Overview
Many companies rely on benchmarking to drive process improvement. For benchmarking to be successful, organizations must make out-of-the-box comparisons, gain insights outside of their industries, and possess a shared framework for assessment.
APQC's Process Classification Framework (PCF) organizes operating and management processes into 12 enterprise-level categories, including process groups and over 1,500 processes and associated activities. Operating processes covered include: develop vision and strategy; design and develop products/services; market and sell products/services; deliver products/services; and manage customer service.
Management and support processes include: develop and manage human capital; manage information technology; manage financial resources; acquire, construct and manage property; manage environmental health and safety; manage external relationships; and manage knowledge, improvement and change.
