Modernized Integrated Data Base: Migration to a Three-Tier Software Architecture for DII COE

Overview The U.S. Department of Defense has adopted the Defense Information Infrastructure Common Operating Environment (DII COE) architecture to expedite communication between services and programs. New development programs and legacy systems already fielded must be made interoperable with DII COE. This paper reviews a successful redesign of the legacy Modernized Integrated Data Base (MIDB) software to meet DII COE requirements and to be merged with the Global Command and Control System (GCCS) Integrated Imagery and Intelligence (GCCS-I3).
