Overview Today's data flow rarely stops, is arriving 10 -100 times faster, is at least a magnitude greater in volume, and is being retained virtually forever. Furthermore, Government systems all require high reliability and availability to meet critical national needs. Finally, the Government correctly expects its system enhancements to be affordable capabilities, operable 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, over a 15-year-plus life cycle. This paper presents a nontraditional archive solution that meets the requirements of TRW's Warehouse program by marrying a high-performance relational database management system with files written to a hierarchical storage system composed of serialized objects that have been binned (categorized and allocated) and indexed.
