Overview Protecting the nation's ports is a critical national security issue. To address this problem, the U.S. government has proposed numerous initiatives that would require electronic transmission of cargo manifests. This paper examines how the patent recently awarded to DE Technologies for its Borderless Order Entry System (BOES) can help the U.S. government meet its security goals by enabling the creation of a standard e-commerce solution for international trade.
