Department of Homeland Security: Formidable Information and Technology Management Challenge Requires Institutional Approach

Overview DHS is working to address the daunting challenge of standardizing and integrating the various legacy IT environments and management approaches it inherited from its predecessor agencies while it is concurrently attempting to ensure that existing levels of IT support for critical homeland security missions are not only maintained but improved in the near term. To do so, the department has, among other things, made progress in establishing seven key information and technology management disciplines.
