Network Reliability and Interoperability Council Focus Group 4 "Broadband"
Overview The deployment of broadband networks and services have potential capabilities which are so powerful that they threaten to disrupt long standing policy, regulatory and commercial structures. Broadband technologies have been developed and deployed that utilize existing infrastructures (including DSL and Cable), wireless including satellite, and even powerline facilities. The competition between these technologies has stimulated technology advances. The United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and many others in the U.S. want "broadband" to be made available to consumers in the most ubiquitous and capable extent possible.
