WiMAX, Wi-Fi and Intel Technologies Transform the Ironman Triathlon Experience
Overview Florida-based World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), owner of the Ironman Triathlon World Championship, is in the business of fulfilling dreams - the dreams of endurance athletes to complete one of the world's most grueling events. WTC had its own dream - to transmit broadcast-quality video from multiple points along the race route. But the company faced formidable roadblocks, chiefly the course's 140-mile distance, rough terrain and remote location on the Big Island of Hawaii. Collaborating with Intel, Airspan Networks, Cisco and Dell, WTC deployed a pre-standard WiMAX wireless network across the course.
