Computacenter Case Study: Greater London Authority
Overview The Greater London Authority (GLA) is a unique strategic government organisation made up of a directly elected Mayor and a separately elected Assembly. When the GLA was created in 2000, it was quick to recognise the role its IT systems would play in the future, and was keen to deploy an infrastructure that would act as a building block for the organisation. With this in mind, the GLA partnered with Computacenter to build an IT infrastructure that would help its staff deliver a range of new services to the capital. GLA were keen to deploy the most recent technology, and as Windows XP had had some exposure in the market, they switched to XP for the desktop environment.
