Timing Synchronization in High Mobility OFDM Systems

Overview Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems divide the given bandwidth into narrow sub-channels. By transmitting low data rates in parallel on these sub-channels, OFDM systems can handle high delay spread environments. The performance of OFDM systems, however, is sensitive to the performance of the timing synchronizer and channel estimator (in this paper, timing synchronization refers to the correct detection of the start of an OFDM symbol).
