Wireless LANs: Security, Reliability and Scalability Issues

Overview Today, as IEEE 802.11 (or Wi-Fi)-based Wireless LANs (WLANs) are being widely accepted for many different applications, efforts are being made across industry and standards groups to enhance many aspects of this wireless Ethernet technology including QoS, security, and mobility supports. This white paper presents an overview of the WLAN space with respect to the three biggest challenges that WLAN faces - security, reliability and scalability - and outlines the efforts that are being made to counter these challenges.
