German Schools Get Computer-Aided Learning Straight Out of the Box

Overview Hundreds of pupils in German primary schools are enjoying their first experience of using computers for classroom lessons thanks to an educational innovation from HP. The Department of Education, Sport and Transport in Limburg-Weilburg, Germany wanted to provide computer-assisted learning in its primary schools. Funding from the federal state of Hessen was insufficient to build bespoke computer rooms or to wire all classrooms for computing and Internet access. A more cost-effective and versatile solution was required. Working with its local HP reseller Pauly GmbH, the Department decided to buy 14 HP NetEducation Centres. These self contained mobile cabinets hold wireless HP notebook PCs and printers and a WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) connection.
