HP, Microsoft Combine Forces to Create Mobile Police Solution

Overview Police organizations nationwide are increasingly adopting sophisticated new technologies to assist them in reducing crime, ensuring public safety, and improving the efficiency of patrol officers. The Redlands, California Police Department - with a long history of innovation in community law enforcement - needed a powerful, yet easy-to-use, handheld solution to help patrol officers collect information about contacts with drivers and pedestrians. As part of a pilot project, funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Office on Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), the Redlands Police Department worked with HP consultants to develop a unique HP Pocket PC application as part of a Racial Profiling Reduction Initiative.
