Downsizing in the United States and France: A Comparative Study

Overview This paper is divided into several sections. The first section of this paper is an overview of the United States laws and policies regulating downsizing efforts. The second section provides a similar overview of the laws related to downsizing in France. In the third section, the authors consider the key determinants of such different in the United States and France. In the fourth and final section, the authors provide concluding remarks, including the proposition that the level of government intervention in downsizing can be linked to national culture.
