Intel Case Study: Cyclone Microsystems, Inc. PCI-736 Intelligent Real-Time I/O Engine
Overview Aptly named, Cyclone Microsystems builds the engines for the complex embedded systems that handle virtual torrents of information. For its second-generation intelligent Gigabit controller, Cyclone started with a promising board design that could make use of the latest Intel MACs and PHYs to cost-effectively boost performance. At the same time, Cyclone planned to harness the latest innovations in Intel I/O processing architecture, including the low-power/high-performance features of Intel XScale technology. This case study looks more closely at the new Cyclone PCI-736 Gigabit controller and the innovative combination of components that enabled Cyclone to achieve maximum embedded performance.
