Butler Group, Tumbleweed SecureTransport Technology Audit
Overview SecureTransport from Tumbleweed is a safe, automated file transfer family of products, available as software or an appliance, which allow users to select their transport protocol of choice to transmit or receive data, without having to resort to the purchase of expensive solutions. Compliance, and the need to transfer increasingly large volumes of data electronically have resulted in a demand for solutions that manage the process in a secure manner. One of the strengths of the solution is that clients exchanging files with an organisation do not need to implement any special software to download or upload files, although Tumbleweed does have its own clients with additional features built-in. A current weakness is that the appliance version of the product does not currently have an automated installer, which will be addressed in a future release. SecureTransport is an ideal solution for any organisation that has a large amount of data that needs to be transferred electronically. Butler Group believes that the appliance version is especially suited to the SME market.
