Electronic Arts Licenses Marimba's Castanet for Integration With Online Games

Overview Electronic Arts is the world's largest interactive entertainment software company. During their first two years of managing online games, Electronic Arts relied on an internally-developed patching system. As Electronic Arts realized that the overhead required to maintain and enhance the patching system could be better spent developing new content and improving their existing games. Electronic Arts was also looking for a solution that provided advanced bandwidth management features and improved reliability. Castanet met these requirements. With Castanet, Electronic Arts can schedule an integrity check upon every launch and automatically restore any game components that may have been damaged, thereby reducing support costs.
