Overview The District of Columbia continues to face significant challenges in its efforts to put in place a financial management framework that ensures timely and reliable financial data on the cost of the District's operations. In its efforts to meet an overly ambitious schedule, the District has spent considerably more money than planned to acquire a system that - 6 years after they began the review and started making recommendations - now serves as yet another cautionary example of the risks involved in not following a disciplined approach to the planning, acquisition, and implementation of a financial management system.
