Automated AP Process Increases Efficiency and Speeds Retrieval Time

Overview Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Marathon Oil Corporation is the eighth largest oil company in the United States in terms of revenues, refined product sales, and refining capacity. Marathon realized that the time had come to automate its AP business process. The goals were to increase the efficiency of invoice processing, better utilize its personnel, and speed retrieval time for old invoices. As the first step in the enterprise imaging and workflow solution, Marathon initiated a pilot project in January 1997 involving 180 users in a total of six cross-functional organizations. Documentum provided the document management and data/storage management components of the system, and provided workflow software from Worktiviti.
