Electronic Data Management Offers Improved File Control and Enables Compliance

Overview Based in Columbus, Ohio, American Electric Power (AEP) is the second-largest electric utility in the United States. At AEP's Cook nuclear power plant, homegrown legacy systems were used to manage controlled documents such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), vendor drawings, and quality assurance (QA) records such as reports, assessments, and standards. With document growth expected to be 25 percent per year over the next 5-7 years and performance already degrading, the company needed a more robust, scalable solution. AEP chose Documentum as its content management platform and partnered with First Consulting Group (FCG) to deploy a solution integrating Documentum with FCG's FirstDoc for good manufacturing practice.
