Overview Macromedia Flex presents developers with a rich application component framework and runtime data services for building sophisticated applications that render in the Flash runtime. With Flex developers can create feature-rich, data-intensive applications that leverage the proven benefits of the Rich Internet Application experience on the client. The Macromedia Central desktop client is an environment for distributing and maintaining applications over the web whose user experience and functionality approach that of traditional desktop applications, such as those authored in Microsoft Visual Basic, Java, or the C family of languages.
