Overview eProcurement remains a relatively new concept and, as such, standards for eProcurement have yet to emerge or be developed. Lack of common open standards is seen as a significant barrier to supplier adoption because of the cost of maintaining electronic data in many different standards. Government is a key stakeholder in the success of eProcurement and is also an obvious leader in establishing standardisation.
