Tendering in NSW Health
Overview Prior to the state-wide implementation of Electronic Tendering in Health, the NSW Health Peak Purchasing Council [HPPC] as part of its supporting role, assisted Area Health Services in ensuring that the tender process was properly structured and managed to provide procedural fairness for all tenderers, and to minimise the potential for legal liability. HPPC's initial strategy to this effect is the establishment of "standardised tender documentation". This was successfully completed by the HPPC through the collaborative efforts of NSW Area Health Service [AHS] Tenders and Contract Officers and Managers, who now meet on a quarterly basis appropriately under the Tenders and Contracts Networking Group [TCNG]. This HPPC group reviewed Health and NSW Government policies on tendering and contracting and developed standardised documentation, which was endorsed by the HPPC.
