Overview Team building is a staple in every manager's training, but the skills of collaboration are unique. While training on team development is legion, few address the real issues that confront a team who cannot meet face-to-face. Today's workplace needs methods that improve communication, increase collaboration and facilitate accountability. Virtual team members cannot think of themselves as a small cog doing their own assignments. Virtual teams fail because they mistakenly believe that all they need to do is tap today's technology and link subject matter experts electronically. What actually happens is they become an electronic herd stampeding recklessly toward costly rework and last minute meetings urgently called to make sure a customer relationship is not further compromised.
