Saks Automates Purchasing With Advanced e-Procurement System

Overview Saks Incorporated purchases more than $900 million in non-retail merchandise from more than 5,000 suppliers, which can be an inefficient and costly process. Saks wanted to automate its manual system with an Internet-based e-procurement system that would simplify purchasing, facilitate new business processes and save money. IBM provided an on-demand e-sourcing service called Leveraged Procurement Services (LPS), plus procurement and other expertise from IBM Global Services. LPS, an advanced e-procurement system, combines the Ariba Buyer software solution and strategic sourcing expertise from IBM Global Services to provide Saks with online supplier catalogs.
