An Interesting Profile-University Students Who Take Distance Education Course Show Weaker Motivation Than On-Campus Students

Overview During the 1999-2000 academic year, data was gathered from six selected colleges and universities in Ohio that revealed current operational practices regarding the establishment, practices, procedures, administration and management of distance education programs. The state of Ohio was chosen because it had, at the time of the study, 29 higher education institutions actively involved in distance education. Representative institutions from various classifications (i.e. state and private community colleges, four-year colleges, and universities) were found in Ohio. This qualitative research study was completed using a case study research design and provides detailed data necessary to determine administrative and management practices of Distance education programs at colleges and universities in Ohio.
